I´m a TCK
25. Mai 2009I had to become 27 before I heard of it for the first time: I am a so called third culture kid.
“[A] person who has spent a significant part of his or her developmental years outside the parents’ culture. The TCK builds relationships to all of the cultures, while not having full ownership in any. Although elements from each culture are assimilated into the TCK’s life experience, the sense of belonging is in relationship to others of the same background.”
This implies some things. For example the way I approach people, the way I am attached to people, the way I feel before leaving my home for some weeks. The way I love my home country and my home city. It implies that I really like to go to the core. It explains why I love conversations. It implies many things.
I see myself clearer now. I can roughly understand some parts of myself better. I can excuse my last delusion. And I am very grateful that someone walked into my life and gave me that book. I hope someone walks into your lives as well, and hands you a book that enables you to understand yourself better. It´s a gift. From god or fortune. Choose that yourself.

that someone sounds like an extremely cool guy!
Indeed, he is. ;-)
